Power Tool Cart & Spray Booth

Had a big weekend in the workshop:

I never liked that the power tools (Drill Press, Sander, Grinder and Bandsaw) were all in a line on the bench, and this took up valuable bench space - so let the sawdust production begin.

First, i removed the old bench that was there, and replaced it with the old hanging bench from our old house. I modified it somewhat and included a sink for cleaning parts and washing hands etc ($10 from the local tip shop). Had to buy a new tap though. Of course, there is room for the beer fridge.

To solve the space issue on the bench, I decided to recycle the large redgum posts, and combined with some materials from the packing crate, along with some heavy plywood veneered chip board i re-produced a version of the Bingelis power tool bench. I added retractable castors, which are very handy and help keep the cart stable (sitting on legs). The cart is designed so it has one "dead side" which can be placed against the wall (which was the sander, as this is the least used). The other tools can be used unhindered and without moving the bench.

The side with the 2 arrows is the "dead side". This allows the use of the drillpress, grinder and bandsaw all while the bench is against the wall. If i wanted to use the sander, i may need to pull the bench out. No big deal.

Push down the lever and the wheel pushes down to lift the weight onto the wheels.

The final job for the weekend, was to build a spray booth for priming parts. The idea was to use the remaining timber from the packing crate to create a box with wire mesh on top to do the spraying. My inline fan is connected by a flexible air tube to the bottom of the box, and a filter is added over the end (supported by wire mesh). On top i created a frame from scrap timber, and covered this in builders film. It will just sit on sawhorses. I am yet to test it out, but inching ever close to actually working with some aluminium.

Found a really cool 1400 lumen clip on LED worklight to provide a single source of light for spraying.
Next job is to finish polishing the new backrivet plate v2, run the final location of the airlines into the shop, and add soem MDF to the workbench top for drilling into.
